The Unintended Consequences of Wearing Masks
Despite its clear importance for health and survival, sociological research suggests that social connectedness is waning. A deep sense of love and belonging is an irresistible need for all people. We are profoundly social creatures that need human engagement to experience optimal health and well-being. The longer we are required to wear masks the greater the decline in social connectedness. This is evident by the dramatic increase in depression, anxiety, social unrest and suicide.
