Which Do You Prefer?
OKay…
Relax…
Take A Deep Breath…
We are NOT going to talk politics…juicy as that topic could get here, what we do want to discuss is are you Liberal or Conservative with how you Manage a Team? Specifically, do you maintain tight control, or do you encourage a more loose open environment? Which is Better? Let’s take a look…
Conservative Management Philosophy
If you lean more towards a conservative management philosophy, then it is difficult for you to delegate, especially things you believe are essential, or really important. On the plus side, this technique makes sure you are involved in every decision, that you are able to add your own expertise to every problem, and that you have greater control over the day to day operations of your business.
The challenge with this philosophy is over the long-term it severely limits the size your business can grow to. It also assures that you will never have any opening of your time…you will always be taxed to the limit with handling things, because it is all on you.
Liberal Management Philosophy
Leaning more towards a liberal management philosophy means that you delegate freely amongst your team. You are always looking to move things off of your own plate, and onto the responsibilities of your team. Especially when it comes to the daily management stuff, you are looking to keep yourself free to focus on the bigger picture, to find ways to grow your business, as your team handles more and more responsibility, your own schedule should free up, allowing you more freedom to pursue larger, more ambitious projects.
The challenge with this philosophy is in the short-term you have a ton of risk in your people making mistakes bigger than your business can handle. The theory goes as they make mistakes, they grow, and as they grow they can handle and do more, but in the beginning this can be an extremely painful, and expensive process.
The Truth is In The Middle
As you might have guessed…the best leaders, the ones that grow the biggest and most successful businesses, find a very nice balance between the two. Knowing when you can delegate things, and when you need to keep control of something, is a bit of art/science combo. The best way to work this many times is to delegate the responsibility, while keeping a close watch in the beginning. If you are there when the mistakes are being made, you can limit the damage, and maximize the learning, which keeps the short-term volatility, and losses much less. It also helps you to accelerate the process of getting to the point where you have delegated as much as possible, allowing you to focus on big picture…or maybe enjoying a little more of the good life.
Either way, good leaders are always working on themselves, setting an example of self-development and personal growth for their team. Teaching, training, coaching, these are essential parts of growing a successful business. Growing businesses as Dr. Jay likes to say come from growing leaders and growing teams. We could dig deeper into this, but if you really want to go next level…take a look at the upcoming training we are doing in November…for you, and your team, it could change everything!

Few technologies have transformed and made our lives easier, as much as GPS has.
Imagine if any of us could just use a GPS…like the one in our cars, or phones, plug in the address to the life we have always dreamed of, and then we would receive step by step instructions of how to get that life? Would we be smart enough and disciplined enough to follow the instructions?
The information necessary to build a better business, and life is shared through TriplePLife, Dr. Jay, the PowerPassionProsperity Podcast, every day. Once a year, we spend an entire Saturday working with a small group of people to help them to learn exactly what they need to do, in order to get everything they have ever wanted out of their business and life, we hope to see you there.
Here’s to Empowering your dreams, Igniting Your Passion, and Accelerating Your Prosperity!
Sincerely,
WJ Vincent II
