Great, Grateful, Gratitude by WJ Vincent II
Great, Grateful, Gratitude
Happy Thanksgiving To Everyone, regardless of where you live, how you live, and what you live….we here at TriplePLife and PowerPassionProsperity Podcast want to wish you lots of luck in figuring out Why You Live this holiday season. There is all kinds of talk right now about abolishing Thanksgiving, or changing the name to a host of negative names. Many people insist on wallowing in negativity unfortunately, many of them are not content with today’s negativity, they have to find yesterday’s, even long ago negativity to feel the anger, loathing, depression, or whatever it is they “think” will fill them up. We believe firmly that there is NOT enough gratitude in the world today, and so even if you don’t think the holiday came from the most positive of scenarios, it has become a symbol of families, friends, and loved ones, sharing some moments together to be thankful for all they have. Just don’t see how something like that should be a thing we try to get rid of, we should be grateful every day.
My Friend Danny
When I was growing up in a small town in Wisconsin, there was a boy who got brain cancer at the age of 5. It was a horrible disease for him, he lost his hair, suffered quite a bit of brain damage, had to deal with less than ideal physical deformities. Somehow Danny survived, he beat the disease that tried to kill him, and everywhere he went he spread joy and happiness for years. Him and I became buddies over the years in high school, I was a couple years older than him, and we became close during my Senior Year of High School. Danny had a difficult time speaking, he was almost impossible to understand unless you talked to him regularly, and even then, sometimes you had to guess what exactly he was trying to say. A few phrases I always knew he was saying were “Cowabunga Dude” and “What’s Up My Brother?!?!?”. Both of which he said with pure joy and fun anytime we saw each other. After I graduated, I kept in touch with Danny, coming back at least once or twice a year to hang out with him at the mall, or catch a movie or something. He would call me once in a while, although it was really hard to talk on the phone.
As my business began to take off, whenever my fortunes would move ahead, I would drive my latest car back home, to take Danny for a ride, the first one was a Red Mitsubishi Eclipse, we drove all over the back roads playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Soundtrack. So when I finally started to make it big, and I custom ordered a BMW direct from a factory in Germany, I couldn’t wait to take Danny for a ride. I told him about it, it was a techno-violet BMW M3 Sedan, the first of its kind ever made, with all the options. He was pumped, and there was nobody I wanted to show it to more than him.
Unfortunately, the order was delayed, some issue with the heated seats or something, and the car came 6 months late…Danny died a month before I got it, from a recurrence of the deadly cancer that almost killed him years before. Danny never got the chance to live a “normal” life, but he made the most out of what he did get. He was always happy, always positive, he became a champion marksman, and an avid outdoors-man with the help of his dad. I will always regret not getting that car in time to take him for one last ride, none of us knew how fast he was going to go, it wasn’t fair, Danny drew the short end of the stick in this life, and yet, he was always grateful, and thankful for what he did get, made the most of it, and touched many lives, especially my own as a result.
So in the spirit of Thanksgiving, and all of us summoning the great gratitude of gratefulness we should all have more of in our lives….here is the song I play first in every car I buy, since 1997…to remember even if just for a moment, my buddy Danny, who was more grateful with less than anybody I have ever met in my life. Hope you and your family have a wonderful time together, that you take a moment to let everyone you love…KNOW that you love them….hold the little ones in your life tight, whisper words of encouragement to everyone you can, and that you remember a good day is any day that we are alive…
“You cannot do a kindness too soon because you never know how soon it will be too late.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
Hope all of you have an empowering…grateful week!
